Pau Lopez wants Roma stay despite losing first choice place

RomaPress Staff

Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez has found himself relegated to the bench during the first two match days as manager Paulo Fonseca has preferred to use Antonio Mirante.

The Spaniard joined the Giallorossi just over one year ago for €23.5 million from Real Betis but was very inconsistent during his first term in the Italian capital.

After his struggles continued into the preseason, Fonseca handed the first choice shot-stopper role to the 37 year-old Mirante for the Giallorossi’s first two matches.

Having been relegated to a backup role, several clubs in England, France, and Spain have inquired about the ability of the 25 year-old Lopez.

However, calciomercato.it reports that the players prefers to remain in the Italian capital — he wants to overcome the difficult moment and win back his place at Roma despite there being available opportunities to move elsewhere.
