Pau Lopez: “We played better but it’s difficult to explain this rough patch we’ve hit”.

Roma stopper Pau Lopez appeared on Roma TV to assess the Giallorossi’s 2-1 loss this evening in Bergamo against Atalanta.

It was Roma’s third loss in a row and one that could have massive Champions League qualification implications as they are six points behind Atalanta for fourth place.

“In the first half we played well, we started the game good. Then in the second half, they scored on a corner kick and everything became more difficult for us,” said the Spaniard.

“We lost the game in those eight minutes in which they scored two goals. We played better today than in the last few games — but we’ve got to start winning immediately, we’ve lost too many points. If we want to qualify for the Champions League, we have to earn a lot of points between now and the end of the season”.

“It is difficult to explain this period we’re having — against Lazio we played incredibly but then against Sassuolo and Bologna we were poor. There are many games left, we have to win to get closer to the top of the table”.
