Pau Lopez celebrated last night his official first start as a Marseille shot-stopper after making his twentieth appearance for the French giants and thus triggering the obligation.

The Spaniard had been on loan from Roma since the summer, but his transfer was only made permanent a week after reaching his twentieth appearance for OM.

The former Roma goal-keeper released a statement to Marseille and their fans:

“I’m very happy with the move finally becoming permanent, it was a goal of mine from the moment I arrived here.”

He added, “It has been an extraordinary experience so far.”

Lopez thus leaves Roma once and for all after two years in the Italian capital, making 77 appearances across all competitions for the Giallorossi.
