Paulo Dybala reminisces about World Cup victory

Andy Mattioli

Roma attacker Paulo Dybala recalled lifting the World Cup trophy with Argentina in a recent interview with Tyc Sport.

“It’s a special story because it all starts and ends with a penalty. I injured myself while taking a penalty, and scored a penalty in the final shoot-out with France,” he commented.

“Walking up to take the penalty was not easy. The walk itself felt very long, but I knew it was going to be alright and thankfully it was.”

Dybala also discussed the feeling of missing his father who passed away when the player was barely 15 years old. “Recently I cried for the first time thinking about my dad who wasn’t there to lift the World Cup with me. If anyone deserved to experience that moment with me, it was him for all the effort he made to take me to every training session. I thank him for everything he has given me.”
