Paulo Dybala did not mince words when discussing his disappointment from the painful defeat in Budapest in 2023.
The Argentine forward discussed this painful episode in an interview with A Donde Vamos Quando Soñamos.
”After the World Cup with Argentina, I had another very important final to play with Roma. We lost it and it killed me emotionally.”
“I was completely in pieces. I can’t do it anymore. The defeat hit me very hard. For us, at that time, it would have been something as historic as winning the World Cup.”
“I mean, I know that for the people of Rome it would have been something unique in their entire history. Do you understand me? And I had been there for a year.”
“Everyone was asking me: but why did you take this defeat so personally? I don’t know. The time spent together with the team, the experience of living in the city, getting to know the people, the locker room. I was killed by the fact that I lost that final.”
