Paulo Dybala’s return from injury gave Roma a much needed boost in the second half to today’s league affair with Torino. The Argentine attacker helped the Giallorossi get a precious equalizer at the death, with Mourinho praising his importance to the team at full time.
Dybala spoke to Sky Sport after the final whistle and analyzed the 1-1 draw with Ivan Juric’s side.
“I always try to be a key player for the team. I entered when Torino were ahead: it is normal for the opponent to defend deep once leading the match away from home.”
“Towards the end we played with more urgency and feeling which helped us get the goal at the end. It would have been better to react before I entered the pitch, but we tried until the last second to get the three points.”
“We need to have more energy from the start. We cannot wait to concede first before waking up as a team. Because it was only after we conceded we started playing, before we looked for the long ball a lot. Torino like to man-mark, they are physical and we suffered their pressure. We need to have more personality, to ask for the ball, we cannot be afraid of the ball. Otherwise everything becomes more difficult.”
“Abraham? When forwards don’t score, they are the first to be criticized by the fans and media. Then they score and shut everyone up. This is what happened against Sassuolo. But because he failed to score today, he will be blamed nonetheless. We have to protect him and put him in better conditions to score.”
