General Manager Tiago Pinto is working on several fronts at once. Although the priority right now is securing an additional midfielder for José Mourinho, the Portuguese director is also hard at work in finding suitable destinations for players excluded from Roma’s plans.
According to today’s edition of Il Tempo, over the coming weeks we are likely to see Pedro, Florenzi, Olsen and Santon depart the club.
Despite failing to reach an agreement for the transfer of Olsen to Lille, the Swedish shot-stopper is still the one with most consideration from several European clubs after disputing a strong Euro 2020 tournament.
On the other hand, dealing with the likes of Nzonzi, Fazio and Pastore is an up-hill battle for Pinto.
All three have very high salaries, with Pastore exceeding €4.5 million per year, and have refused a number of destinations already – Fazio was linked to Parma earlier in January, but decided to stay in the capital, while Nzonzi refused an approach from Benfica a month ago.
Thus, Roma, after securing Patricio, Vina and Shomurodov, will first have to sell before bringing in additional reinforcements.
