Lazio winger Pedro – who spent just one year with the Giallorossi and was subsequently dropped from the first team during pre-season – was recently interviewed ahead of the Derby della Capitale.
The former Chelsea player spoke to Lazio Style Radio about his controversial decision to join Roma’s city rivals.
“It was a very difficult situation for me at Roma. They dropped me from the first team, without having me talk to anybody from the management, and told me to leave,” said the Spaniard.
“When I spoke to Sarri it became clear to me that it was a golden opportunity. It’s true, these types of transfers don’t happen too often but I’m extremely happy to play for Lazio.”
Pedro’s time at Roma was filled with ups and downs. After a strong start under former manager Paulo Fonseca, Pedro’s performances began to drop off in quality.
In 40 appearances for the Giallorossi, the Spanish attacker scored 6 goals and collected 7 assists.
