Pedro to be excluded from Mourinho’s pre-season squad list

Preparations for Roma’s new campaign are underway with The Special One making his first official press-conference appearance later today. The team will soon begin group training. This time around there will be two separate lists for each squad. The first one will include players that fit Mourinho’s project and on whom he counts on with the exception of Bryan Cristante who will be back after a short vacation following the Euros.

According to Il Romanista, the big surprise will be Pedro’s absence on this first list. Roma are reportedly looking to move the Spaniard which explains his presence on the second squad list: the one that includes players that do not fit Mourinho’s project. The likes of Nzonzi, Bianda, Coric as well as possibly Fazio, Santon and Pastore will train separately with personal trainers, without Mourinho’s supervision.

After holding numerous discussions with Pinto, The Special One concluded that Pedro, despite his experience and veteran status, is not a key player for the upcoming season and can be sold. Thus, after a season of highs and lows, the former Barça and Chelsea player is on his way out. Getting rid of his significant salary would be a blessing for Roma, who are currently trying their hardest to reduce the infamous wage bill.
