Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini admitted he feels a weight has been lifted off his shoulders after his goal in tonight’s 3-0 win over Udinese.

The midfielder scored from open play for the first time in 560 days, his last his last goal coming last season at the Stadio Bentegodi against Hellas Verona.

“I really feel liberated after scoring tonight,” Pellegrini told DAZN.

“It’d been awhile since I found the back of the net, I missed it. Those close to me kept telling me to relax and find some peace, luckily tonight that worked.”

“Tonight was an important win because we knew the results of the other teams before kick-off. Now we’ve got important matches coming up and it’s important to focus on Thursday: we have a comeback to make.”

“After Thursday, we’ll refocus on the league. From a mentality standpoint this team has made a lot of strides.”
