Pellegrini: “I owe a lot to Mourinho. This is just the beginning.”

Lorenzo Pellegrini ends the night with two more goals to his name. The Roma captain gave an interview to Sky Sport where he detailed the 5-1 victory over CSKA Sofia.

On the wonder-goal that put the game back on level terms:

“I did well but the important thing is that the ball went in. It was important to recover the game after the shaky start and nothing else mattered at that point.”

On how much Mourinho’s confidence in him has helped him improve his overall game:

“Very very much. I can only thank him for what he has done. I owe him a lot. But that’s just the beginning. He must continue to make us all grow.”

“This year there is something special in Trigoria, we must enjoy it as much as possible to complete our growth. This growth must not end if we want to win something in the future.”

On whether the biggest change is mental or physical:

“Everything. We move well offensively and defensively. There is something special that you feel and that has probably never been in Trigoria since I returned. We try to make the best of this situation.”

On the atmosphere at the Olimpico:

“Yes, I talked about it before with Villar, he told me how beautiful the stadium was. And I told him that the stadium with our fans is wonderful but it’s only at 50%.”

“If we win the games it is thanks to them, we hope that the public will soon be fully available again, obviously in full safety.”
