Lorenzo Pellegrini suffered a painful discomfort to the quadriceps he injured earlier in November while training minutes away from kick-off to Roma-Cagliari, reports Il Tempo.
The Italian midfielder’s condition was assessed yesterday as not serious but also not worth risking any further. That is why Pellegrini is expected to miss Roma’s Coppa Italia clash vs Lecce as well as the upcoming league fixture against Empoli.
According to the newspaper, the Roma captain will return after the break as Mourinho prefers to spare him ahead of the Giallorossi’s tough stretch in February and March.
In the meantime, The Special One hopes to have El Shaarawy back at his disposal, while Chris Smalling is still deemed unavailable.
