Roma are working to make a move or two in January to help reinforce the team. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that sporting director Gianluca Petrachi’s first priority is to bring in a vice-Dzeko after the struggles of Nikola Kalinić. The Croatian hasn’t convinced Paulo Fonseca this season, however, the Giallorossi won’t be able to bring in a replacement unless he leaves first.
Fonseca’s dream would be Napoli’s Dries Mertens, who is out of contract with the club in June, but this operation could ultimately be too expensive. Alternatively, the names of Andrea Petagna and Mariano Diaz are also options.
Meanwhile, Cengiz Ünder is drawing interest from England and should he leave, Inter’s Matteo Politano could take his place. Other names that the Giallorossi could eye this January are Verona’s Davide Faraoni and Nahitan Nandez of Cagliari, who is having problems with the Sardegna-based side.
