Portugal are eyeing current Roma manager Jose Mourinho as Fernando Santos’ successor following the team’s recent elimination from the World Cup in Qatar.

The president of the Portuguese federation, Fernando Gomes, has his mind reportedly set on appointing Jose Mourinho as the national team’s technician.

Today’s edition of La Repubblica reports the following details regarding Portugal’s offer for Mourinho: a three-year contract to be signed in the summer of 2023 – only a year away from EURO 2024 – with the expiry date set for after the USA World Cup.

For the time being, Roma refuse to give out any comments on the matter, and it remains to be seen whether Mourinho would be ready to give up his daily club coaching duties in favor of a national team job.
