The latest whispers in Portugal claim that Jose Mourinho is not interested in pursuing a managerial role with Portugal following the federation’s recent approach after their elimination from the World Cup.

According to Portuguese journalist Bruno Fernandes of Record the negotiations between Mourinho and Portugal are off.

“We know what Mourinho said to the president of the Portuguese Football Federation: he thanked him, but said he wanted to focus only on Roma,” Fernandes told calciomercato.it.

“He wants to win the Scudetto with the Giallorossi and is working on it. He wants to put Roma in the top 2-3 Italian clubs. He wants to achieve a European and Italian title beyond the Conference League, but Roma will have to give him high quality players as the other teams.”

“It’s his goal: he wants to win the league, put Roma on another level. This is what we have heard from the Portuguese Federation, who are now focusing on promoting the U21 coach.”
