Roma will be back on the training pitch tomorrow following yesterday’s disappointment against Juventus as they begin their preparation to face Udinese.
Even though the Giallorossi failed to register a goal in yesterday evening’s affair, Henrikh Mkhitaryan was one of the few who looked to be a goal scoring threat and continues to shoulder the attacking responsibilities for his team.
The Armenian has been one of the standouts for Paulo Fonseca this season and the club, led by General Director Tiago Pinto, have made resolving his future among their top priorities.
Corriere dello Sport reports that there could be a meeting within the next few days between Roma and Mkhitaryan’s agent, Mino Raiola.
The Giallorossi have already exercised the option to automatically renew his contract until 2022 for a net figure of €3 million plus bonuses.
However, there is a clause in the contract, which was signed last summer between the parties, that gives the attacker until 30 June the option to either accept the renewal or leave the club for free.
Roma hope to find an understanding with Raiola that would remove this option and ensure Mkhitaryan’s future remains in the Italian capital.
