Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi to Sky Sport before the Giallorossi’s Europa League clash against Istanbul Basaksehir:
In the past, Roma hasn’t approached this competition correctly. How do you build a winning mentality?
By making the players understand how much this competition means to the club. We were very clear, we want to advance. We’re not underestimating the opponent – they have quality players so we’ll have to have the right approach. The manager has done so, now I hope that the players won’t take this match lightly.
Is this a chance for Pastore to showcase himself?
He will play as the trequartista, which is his role — so there will be no excuses. He’s trained well and is doing good, certainly, he can make a difference if we see the true Pastore. It’s up to him to regain everyone’s trust and affection. He was whistled on Sunday, but it doesn’t take much to win back the supporters.
