Good news for Stephan El Shaarawy and Roma after an earlier report suggested the player had been involved in the illegal betting scandal.

El Shaarawy’s name was mentioned by ex-paparazzo and convicted felon Fabrizio Corona who claimed the Roma attacker had been part of the group of players to bet on illegal platforms.

However, the Prosecutor’s Office in Turin who are investigating the case and have already interrogated the likes of Nicolo Fagioli and Sandro Tonali, denied Stephan El Shaarawy’s involvement.

“There is no evidence of his involvement,” read the statement that the Prosecutor’s Office delivered to Sportmediaset.
