Former Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan shared his opinion on Daniele De Rossi’s surprise appointment as Roma’s new head coach.
During an instagram livestream, Nainggolan backed De Rossi’s arrival at Roma but also criticized the team for failing to meet Mourinho’s demands.
“It hurts me to see Roma in this position, I went to the stadium three times this year and saw a team that couldn’t seem to take a shot on goal. The players are always primarily responsible, except that in the world of football the coach is always the one who pays,” said the Belgian international.
“I am convinced that Daniele will surprise everyone: I have had him as a coach and I am familiar with his ideas.”
“When I was at SPAL and they sacked him, I saw all the players crying for him, because the importance that Daniele gave to each of us was incredible.”
“You could see that he wanted to play in a certain way, but he didn’t have the right players. This was the reason why he ended up with SPAL, because everyone saw how he wanted to play, but if you don’t have the right personnel it becomes difficult.”
