Former Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan shared his thoughts on compatriot Romelu Lukaku joining the Giallorossi.

In an interview with ReteSport, Nainggolan said, “I never would have expected it. Many things have been said about Romelu but we don’t know the truth, the problem with Italy is that there is a lot of talk even when there is no truth to it. Lukaku, if he feels loved, is someone who can give a lot to the team.”

“Roma? The Giallorossi won a Conference League trophy 2 years ago, last year they reached the Europa League final, I think the more quality players you get, the more competitive you can be in different tournaments. Roma deserve to play in the Champions League.”

“Roma’s midfield? Renato Sanches is strong, however, he has had many injuries: we need to understand how fit he is physically. I really like him, he is the only explosive player in the midfield. Aouar has different characteristics, like every other player in the department, so Roma have a competitive midfield this year.”

“Lukaku called me not too long ago. I told him that if he needs anything, I’m there for him. I know the Roman environment very well.”

“A wish? I would go back to Roma without thinking twice about it,” concluded Nainggolan.
