Radja Nainggolan shares his thoughts on Mourinho’s third season at Roma

Andy Mattioli

Former Giallorossi player Radja Nainggolan attended last night’s Roma-Salernitana at the Stadio Olimpico.

Following the 2-2 result, Nainggolan went on Parlamoderoma2.0 and gave his opinion about Roma’s summer signings and the team’s objectives for the season.

“Roma have quality, with Pellegrini and Dybala even more so,” said the Belgian midfielder. “If Zapata arrives he’s good and he can help the team, Belotti can also do very well this year, I saw him in top form. He had a brilliant performance with Salernitana.”

“Aouar didn’t do badly, in that role you need quality and he has it, but he lacks a bit of strength. I’ve seen him fight in the defensive phase, then we’ll have to see if he’ll be decisive. The new players have to settle in, Paredes will want to redeem himself after a negative year.”

“Renato Sanches is the only one who can make the box-to-box transition. I thought he came on well, he wanted to use his body a little too much but it is clear that he has quality and guts going forward.”

“Roma need more confidence, Juve dominated the league when we were there, now everything has changed, it’s undergoing a kind of reconstruction. Napoli took advantage of this and won the Scudetto. At the time, when I was at Roma, the gap with Juventus was too big. For me, Inter was and is the strongest team on paper, Lazio finished second last year but for me, Roma have no players inferior to them as individuals. Juve have only the league to focus and how will Milan do this year?”
