Former Roma man Radja Nainggolan backed his ex-teammate and current Giallorossi head coach Daniele De Rossi.

In an interview with SportMediaset, Nainggolan discussed De Rossi’s appointment as interim manager and Jose Mournho’s dismissal from the club.

“I believe it was fate that brought De Rossi back to Roma a little earlier than I thought,” said the Belgian midfielder. “On the pitch he was already a coach, then I worked with him at SPAL and his ideas as a coach are good.”

“He wants to offer good football. I love him and I’m happy for him. A city like Rome must be in the spotlight. I hope Roma can get back into the top four,” he added.

“I don’t know if there were problems with Mourinho. He is a great coach for what he has won in the past. I remember my Roma dominating many matches, whereas Mourinho’s team never dominated.”

“As a result, Roma made a change and chose a coach who knows the environment really well. Mourinho won and did well in Rome, but I also think De Rossi’s is the right choice. The important thing is that the team qualifies among the top 4.”
