Milan attacker Rafael Leao spoke about scoring a vital goal for his side in tonight’s 2-1 win over Roma at Stadio Olimpico.
When asked if the Rossoneri had been afraid of Roma potentially coming back from 2-0, Leao admitted it was in fact the case. “Yes, we immediately thought back to the match in January,” he told DAZN, referring to Roma’s comeback in a thrilling 2-2 draw at San Siro last season.
“This was an important match. We did everything to win, we controlled the game and deservedly scored.”
“We could have scored more goals, then they scored, then the anxiety went up but we kept the result in our favor. The ten players who stayed on the pitch did an incredible job and we have them to thank them.”
“The goal? I’d been trying to score one like that for three years and finally it went in tonight,” he added.
