Sixteen days after the national team’s defeat in Bosnia, the mystery surrounding a new coach remains unresolved, and the situation is complicated by the clubs’ transfer entanglements.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has issued Antonio Conte a quasi-ultimatum, declaring that if the Salento native wishes to take charge of the national team, he must make a decision immediately.

Meanwhile, the fate of Massimiliano Allegri, another strong candidate for the role, is also tied to Conte’s.

The Tuscan coach is not opposed to continuing his work at AC Milan, but the possibility of a move to Napoli or Coverciano remains open.

Meanwhile, as reported by La Repubblica, two other possibilities are emerging in the background: Roberto Mancini and Claudio Ranieri.

While the former’s name continues to circulate, the latter’s is seen as a better fit for a technical director role, rather than a head coach, due to his age.

The idea of a technical director, like the one Tavecchio’s FIGC wanted to establish in 2016 with the Lippi-Ventura duo, is now back in the spotlight, with Ranieri potentially a viable option should he leave Roma.
