Defender Rasmus Kristensen spoke about recently joining the Giallorossi in his first pre-season training camp with the club.
Having signed with Roma on loan from Leeds United earlier in the month, Kristensen was asked Roma’s transfer window, the friendlies with Sporting Braga and Estrela Amadora and the opportunity to work with Jose Mourinho.
“Scamacca? I think he’s an excellent player,” Kristensen told La Gazzetta dello Sport when asked about Roma targeting the Italian attacker of West Ham. “I also remember that goal he scored against [Leeds] last season. He seems to be a strong striker, for many reasons.”
“Pre-season? Everything is going very well. Clearly we are working on the physical aspects, we are slowly getting in shape.”
“For me it’s certainly positive to spend as much time as possible with my new teammates, to feel part of this team that immediately made me feel like I was in a family. I was immediately welcomed very well by everyone, from day one. Consequently, I can only say positive things about my time here so far.”
“I don’t know if I’ll really be the starter on the right, we’ll only see this when the season starts, when we play our first real games. I will always do my best, I want to help the team and I will try to take advantage of every opportunity, every minute the coach will give me. But one thing is certain and I can assure you of this from this moment on: I will always give my best on the pitch, in any position Mourinho decides to deploy me.”
“Reaching top 4? I’m optimistic considering the qualities this team has and what I’m seeing here in Portugal as well. The ultimate goal is to finish as high up the league table as possible, possibly also playing good football. In this phase, however, we have to focus on ourselves, to fine-tune the team’s mechanisms which will certainly be crucial throughout the season.”
“Celebrating El Shaarawy’s goal vs Sporting Braga? I’m like that, I’m a very passionate guy, who likes to celebrate the good times and always show his emotions. It was easy to settle in here, I repeat, because everyone made me feel at ease right from the start.”
“Mourinho? A great coach, probably the best ever in the history of football. I’m learning a lot from him, every day, I try to listen to every suggestion he gives me. And I want to give him back all the trust he has placed in me. He asked one thing of me: to fight for myself, the team and him.”
