Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil spoke about his side’s recent stretch of disappointing results including the defeat at the Stadio Olimpico in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16.
“The team hasn’t brought home positive results lately, but we have to analyze the situation from a general point of view. We are fourth in the league and we still have to play the second leg of the Europa League which is around the corner.”
“Our goal is to beat Roma in the return leg and advance to the quarterfinals. If it is true that the recent results have not been good, it is also true that we can do great things and we deserve a different kind of result from this season.”
“It’s difficult to explain why we can’t seem to manage to score goals, despite the chances we create. We also saw it against Roma in the last Europa League match. We knew how difficult it was to create chances against them, in the 82nd minute we had the chance to equalize, but we didn’t succeed. However, the team is improving and the goals will come. Our goal is the quarterfinals, even if we are 2 goals down and it will be complicated, everything is still at stake.”
