Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino came close to scoring in last night’s defeat to Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Spaniard highlighted in his post-match comments the importance of playing in San Sebastian in next week’s return leg.
“We played a good match, we knew we were facing a strong team that doesn’t concede anything on the pitch. It’s a tough defeat, especially for our fans,” he told RSTV.
“We know that in the return leg we will have to play a great match. You can’t lose concentration, we are a team that must stay focused for the entire 90 minutes. We have to learn from this defeat and grow ahead of next week.”
“I am sure that our home crowd will help us, we need to fix some things in the meantime,” he added.
