Roma midfielder Renato Sanches discussed his first weeks with the Giallorossi in an exclusive interview with DAZN.

On the eve of Roma-Empoli, the Portuguese international spoke about his career trajectory.

“It’s a moment of maturity and stability. I have already won titles in Germany, Portugal, France, but I think I have reached a point in my career where I am more mature to be able to show my abilities,” he said.

“Being at Roma? The Stadio Olimpico is incredible. You really get the sense that everybody comes to watch the team play. The support of the fans is always important for every player. I think that with a fan base like that it is much easier to want every victory and give everything for the team.”

“We have different types of players with different characteristics, I think it is important to have a team that has a lot of variety in midfield, we have players with a lot of quality and I am convinced that this is really good so that the manager has different tactical choices to make throughout the season.”

“Mourinho? It’s always easier when you have a Portuguese coach, it’s our language and it’s easier to understand what he asks of me. Feeling the coach’s support is always very important because you perceive things in a different way and it gets into a player’s head much more quickly.”

“Meeting the likes of Mourinho and Pinto here really helps you get integrated more quickly, they can explain to you how the club works, allowing you to learn much faster.”

“The player that impressed me the most at Roma? Houssem Aouar,” he added.
