Roma midfielder Renato Sanches scored his first goal for the Giallorossi in last night’s 7-0 beating of Empoli.
The Portuguese international smashed a pin-point accurate header off Rasmus Kristensen’s assist to give Roma a 3-0 lead over the Tuscan side.
In his post-match interview with Sky Sport, Sanches remarked, “For me it was a special moment, it was my first match as a starter at the Olimpico. Scoring in this stadium is incredible, it was a very nice evening.”
“We didn’t get off to a good start this season. We lost a lot of points, we had some injuries that affected us. If we play consistently like tonight we can show our qualities.”
“Dybala and Lukaku? They are two great players, who are used to playing in this league. They have great experience and can help the team, they can be really useful to us.”
“Injuries are part of the equation. It’s something we can’t control. I can only promise to work hard. We must remain positive, this is part of football.”
