Stade Rennais head coach Bruno Genesio expressed his confidence in landing Roma midfielder Nemanja Matic.
The French side recently made an approach for the veteran and offered a multi-year contract. The former Chelsea and Manchester United man is reportedly enticed by the proposal given that his current deal with Roma runs out next June.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of his team’s season debut in Ligue 1, Genesio elaborated on the club’s pursuit of Matic—admitting he’s a perfect fit for their set-up.
“I trust the members of my club management who are working hard on the deal, I’m confident,” stated Genesio.
“But as you know, until things aren’t official we can’t get too ahead of ourselves. Matic is the ideal player for us, and by this I mean experienced, athletic and technically skilled. He can adapt to our needs, but he is not the only one.”
