Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles is being linked with a potential January switch to the Italian capital in order to join José Mourinho’s Roma side.
According to ESPN, Roma have opened talks with Arsenal regarding a loan move for the 24 year-old, who seems destined to depart the club next month.
Giallorossi transfer chief Tiago Pinto recently initiated contact with the Gunners to probe the chances of a January move for the Englishman. The deal would likely include the option to make the transfer permanent for a fixed fee.
The financials surrounding the deal haven’t been agreed to, but Maitland-Niles is said to be open to moving abroad and joining Roma.
The midfielder has played sparingly this season under Mikel Arteta, making only eleven appearances in all competitions, and seems to have fallen out of favor with the Spaniard.
His last appearance came over one month ago on 20 November and it’s increasingly likely he will seek a move away in the coming weeks.
