Report: Roma to appoint Florent Ghisolfi as new sporting director

Andy Mattioli

Roma seem to have found their new sporting director in Florent Ghisolfi – currently in charge of Nice’s sporting area.

The latest report by Corriere dello Sport claims the Friedkins have sealed an agreement for the young executive who is closing in on a move to the Italian capital and where he will be appointed as the club’s new sporting director.

Ghisolfi will replace Tiago Pinto who left Roma in February – the French director will oversee Roma’s transfer plans and work closely with head coach Daniele De Rossi in identifying the necessary reinforcements ahead of next season.

Ghisolfi’s profile seems to have found every member of Roma’s management in agreement.

The Giallorossi management (Friedkins and CEO Lina Souloukou) met Ghisolfi twice in recent weeks: the management and coordination model of the sports sector proposed by the manager found positive consensus from the Giallorossi club, which appreciated the role played by the Frenchman in the growth first of Lens, which he brought back to the Champions League, then of Nice who are now fighting to qualify for the preliminaries of the next Champions League.

Roma plan to announce Ghisolfi’s appointment as well as Daniele De Rossi’s contract extension in the next few days.
