Roma fullback Rick Karsdorp got his long-awaited national team call-up only recently and was asked by ESPN to comment on his initial impression.
“I don’t check my e-mail or even on the Internet for the call-up sheet. Coincidentally, my agent called. It was a great surprise for me,” he said.
“Of course you never give up, but at some point it’s better to accept the fact that you will not be called up than to hurt yourself every time by looking at that list and believing you got a chance.”
“It’s been five or six years since I was last summoned by the national team. I’m back now, so it’s yes, it’s a surprise for 27-year-old me.”
