Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi did not hide his disappointment with his side’s recent stretch of results.

Following yesterday’s 0-3 defeat to Fulham, De Zerbi assessed his team’s moment as they prepare to face Roma in the Europa League Round of 16 in the next few days.

“We are well aware of the difficulties of the moment, we are going through a very difficult period,” De Zerbi told Sky Sport. “We have many injuries, and many matches to play. But we already knew this before the season started.”

“To stay at these levels you have to push hard every day, game after game. We had three competitions: the FA Cup, which we exited on Wednesday, today the Premier League with Fulham and Thursday the Europa League with Roma.”

“For us it is a challenge and in these situations we have to demonstrate whether we are capable of competing at this level or whether we instead have to go back to playing only once a week during the league season.”
