Roberto Mancini discusses Pellegrini’s struggles this season

Andy Mattioli

Italy manager Roberto Mancini was asked about Lorenzo Pellegrini’s complicated season as the Italian midfielder has struggled to maintain the same level of performances from last year.

“Pellegrini has always been excellent with Italy,” Mancini said in an interview with Il Messaggero. “He’s done very well for us playing as a winger and as midfielder.”

“I think over the course of the season the decision to play through injuries can affect his performances,” Mancini added.

“Zaniolo? He asked me for my opinion and I told him he should join Galatasaray. I hope he will get to play a lot because he’s important for us. Turkey was the only possibility for him.”
