Former Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has now taken over the managerial vacancy with the Portuguese national team.
The Portuguese federation announced Martinez’s appointment earlier today after holding talks with the Spaniard two weeks ago.
Italian and Portuguese media claim Martinez’s appointment took place as a result of Jose Mourinho’s refusal to turn his attention to international coaching duties, abandoning Roma halfway through the season.
The Special One is now reportedly inclined to reject Brazil’s advances as well.
