Roma suffered their second league defeat of the season this evening in front of a packed Stadio Olimpico.

The Giallorossi fell 1-0 to Atalanta with Giorgio Scalvini’s goal proving enough for La Dea to grab all three points in an important away win.

Playing without star-man Paulo Dybala, who was injured during the pre-game warmup, Roma created plenty of goalscoring chances. Tammy Abraham, Nicolo Zaniolo, and Eldor Shomurodov each had golden opportunities to get on the scoresheet but failed to find the back of the net.

On the other side Gian Piero Gasperini’s side barely created anything but only needed to bury their one and only chance to secure the victory.

Teenage defender Giorgio Scalvini to put the ball past Rui Patricio and into the bottom corner late in the first half to grab the only goal of the match.

Roma came close to leveling the score in the final moments when Andrea Belotti sent Eldor Shomurodov running through on goal. However, the ex-Genoa man couldn’t find the target.

Highlighting their wastefulness, the Giallorossi ended the affair with an expected goals (xG) of nearly 3 compared to Atalanta’s 0.15.

The capital club now enter the international break sitting 6th in the Serie A table with 13 points while Atalanta remain unbeaten and go top with 17 points.
