Roma 1-1 Venezia

Roma were left frustrated in their final home match of the season this evening, drawing 1-1 against the already relegated Venezia.

It was a disappointing result for the Giallorossi, who lost a chance to ensure a fifth or sixth place finish in Serie A.

With legends Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi in the stands, Roma created plenty of goalscoring opportunities but had trouble finding the back of the net.

Despite Venezia playing with ten men for over sixty minutes, Roma’s attack wasted a number of chances to find the back of the net.

Jose Mourinho’s side ended the affair with an expected goal (xG) tally of 3.02 compared to the Venetian’s 0.34.

The Giallorossi hit the woodwork a total of four times and had to wait until the 76th minute to finally get on the scoreboard through Eldor Shomurodov.

Just moments later, Roma came close to finding a winner through midfielder Bryan Cristante but it wasn’t meant to be as Roma were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Although it was a disappointing result, the mood at the Stadio Olimpico was incredibly positive with supporters encouraging Mourinho and his team ahead of the Giallorossi’s Conference League final in Tirana on May 25th.
