Roma extended their unbeaten streak to begin 2023, defeating Fiorentina 2-0 this evening in the Italian capital.

The win handed the Giallorossi an important three points ahead of a grueling upcoming stretch of fixtures, which includes a showdown against league leaders Napoli later this month.

With Nicolo Zaniolo absent, Jose Mourinho’s men were led by attacking pair Paulo Dybala and Tammy Abraham.

La Joya scored twice and raised his goal tally to 7 so far in Serie A. He was assisted by Abraham on both goals as the duo combined well throughout the game and created several problems for a shorthanded Fiorentina side.

La Viola came out strong after the match kicked-off, dominating possession during the first half-hour of the affair.

However, a very clear momentum shift came midway thru the opening period when Fiorentina defender Dodo was sent off.

Already on a yellow, the Brazilian made an extremely clumsy challenge in the 24th minute and was sent off after receiving his second booking.

It didn’t take long for Roma to take control after that when Paulo Dybala found the back of the net to open the scoring and give the team 1-0 halftime lead.

The Tuscans tried to get some attacking actions created in the second half, but they failed to muster any clear opportunities.
