Roma once again looked lethargic in the first half to tonight’s match at the Stadio Olimpico against an in-form Hellas Verona team. The Giallorossi seemed unable to find any sort of rhythm against the gialloblù, conceding two goals within the opening twenty minutes of the game.
Fortunately, Mourinho made several substitutions that proved to make a difference and helped rescue a point in a game that ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw.
Youngsters Cristian Volpato and Edoardo Bove each scored their first ever senior goals, with Bove delivering a perfect strike at the ’84 to salvage the result.
When speaking to DAZN, Bove sounded disappointed in the team’s performance, “It’s certainly an incredible emotion to score my first goal, but there is a feeling of regret when you consider how we played in front of so many fans.”
He added, “I have so many mixed feelings about this match.”
When asked what Mourinho said at half-time, Bove shook his head, “Whatever he said stays in the locker room. Our attitude changed when we came on in the second half.”
“We played more aggressive and in the end managed to rescue a point in a really tough game.”
Bove also commented on his performance given his limited playing time in the current campaign thus far: “In training everyone helps us grow, there is a very good feeling between senior players and younger ones like Volpato and I.”
“When there is an opportunity, and if we deserve it, we’ll take everything the coach is willing to give us.”
