Roma has decided to continue focusing on Mario Hermoso.
After a positive season, the Giallorossi club has exercised the clause in the Spanish defender’s contract, extending his deal for another year.
This decision confirms the central defender’s growth over the past few months.
Twelve months ago, his future seemed far from the capital, so much so that, as Gian Piero Gasperini noted at the start of the season, “it seemed like he wasn’t even going to the training camp.”
As Il Tempo reports, Hermoso was loaned to Bayer 04 Leverkusen last January, before returning to Rome during the summer.
Since then, the defender has earned playing time and trust, becoming a key figure in Gasperini’s squad.
His performances throughout the season have convinced the club to keep him for the future, recognizing his performance and consistency in the Giallorossi jersey.
