Roma have made an important step in their negotiations for Girona’s Artem Dovbyk.

Over the last two days, the Ukrainian striker emerged as a serious candidate to reinforce Roma’s attack ahead of next season.

Negotiations between Roma and the player’s agents have taken place in the Italian capital on Thursday, with Roma wanting to assess the requested conditions for a deal involving the 27-year-old La Liga top goal-scorer.

According to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari of Sportitalia, progress has been made as Roma try to overtake Atletico Madrid in the race.

Longari reports that Roma have officially formulated a proposal for a contract worth €3.5 million, practically tripling Dovbyk’s current earnings at Girona.

Talks are on-going with Roma also ready to send their first bid to Girona in the coming hours.
