Roma have an important step toward extending Chris Smalling’s stay in the Italian capital.
The English defender is one of the club’s top priorities as his contract is only a few months away from its date of expiry.
As a result, La Repubblica reports that after several weeks of negotiations, General Manager Tiago Pinto has reformulated the capital club’s offer for Chris Smalling’s renewal on Jose Mourinho’s request.
According to the Italian newspaper, Roma are now willing to offer a two-year deal worth €3.5 million per season which is in line with the player’s request.
An agreement could be reached in the coming weeks with Smalling ready to continue leading Roma’s backline.
