Roma are growing increasingly anxious with regards to the future of veteran defender Chris Smalling.

The Englishman was initially projected to extend his stay in the Italian capital as he nears the expiry of his current contract, effectively becoming a free agent in June.

After being offered a new long-term deal by the Giallorossi, Smalling is now reportedly set on taking a decision along with his agent and family.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are waiting to understand what the player’s intentions are.

General Manager Tiago Pinto wants to avoid losing Smalling on a free at all costs and considers the club’s latest offer of almost €4 million including bonuses satisfactory.
