Roma CEO Lina Souloukou addressed some of the recent rumors that have been circulating that linked the capital club with a potential ownership takeover from Saudi Arabia.
During the event Business of Football Live, Souloukou connected remotely and said, “Before talking about Saudi Arabia I want to clarify that there have been rumors about a sale of the club which have no basis.”
“Roma belongs to the Friedkin family who have a great commitment and vision for the future of the club and they want to stay to make the club grow even more.”
“I want to say we are thrilled to have this sponsor [Riyadh Season] which is one of the biggest events in the world. We also played a friendly match there. I think it’s laughable to blame Saudi Arabia, they just want to elevate their region. These combinations between regions have also occurred in the past with MLS and China.”
