Chris Smalling’s return to Roma is getting closer.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Giallorossi are working to bring the Englishman back to the Italian capital as soon as possible as negotiations with Manchester United have resumed and are nearing a conclusion.
The deal will be closed on the basis of a paid loan with an obligation to buy for a total of €12 million. The final figure, therefore, will be lower than what the Red Devils were requesting in recent weeks.
Roma will hand the 30 year-old a three-year contract as Paulo Fonseca is keen for the defender to rejoin his side permanently following his loan spell last season.
