RomaPress – Roma midfielder Gonzalo Villar is looking for a new club after failing to impress manager Jose Mourinho.
The Spaniard returned to the Italian capital this summer following his six-month loan spell at Getafe, drawing interest from several clubs both in Italy and abroad.
The 24 year-old appeared destined to join Monza on a permanent deal before a last minute request from the newly promoted side put the deal on hold.
Due to the Biancorossi’s hesitation in finalising the transfer, Sampdoria contacted the midfielder’s agent, Alejandro Camaño, and quickly reached an agreement on a four-year contract.
However, despite a report from TyC Sports yesterday, Roma were quick to deny they reached a deal with Samp regarding a transfer fee.
The capital club confirmed the negotiations were ongoing when discussing the situation with multiple media outlets, including RomaPress. Though, they stressed these talks are still at an early stage, far from advanced.
