Roma are seriously considering the possibility of firing Mourinho mid-season.

The Portuguese technician has failed to meet the club’s expectations for the season thus far and last night’s heavy defeat against AC Milan could be the end for the Special One’s time in the Italian capital.

According to La Repubblica, Roma are yet to appoint a new sporting director following Tiago Pinto’s decision to leave the club.

As a result, Roma President Dan Friedkin and Vice President Ryan Friedkin, along with CEO Lina Souloukou, are reportedly considering an interim option to replace Mourinho until the end of the season.

The first name on Roma’s list – suggests the newspaper – is that of club legend Daniele De Rossi.

De Rossi’s only previous coaching experience took place in Serie B during a brief spell with SPAL last season.
