Roma consider offering Maicon a contract


Il Corriere dello Sport report that Roma could make a formal offer for ex-defender Douglas Maicon on a short term contract.

Maicon had been training at Trigoria for almost a month now. His contract expire in the summer but he had no desire to retire so with the permission of Spalletti and the club, he has trained with the Giallorossi to stay in shape while his family continues to live in Rome.

Luciano Spalletti admires the Brazilian and also invited Maicon to join the team during during training matches: while he wanted to help, it was also a “test”. The defender has proved to be in good physical condition and has been training without any knee issues for some time now. This is why Roma are now considering making him a contract offer: especially given the number of injuries the team has had to endure.
