The situation at Trigoria has become increasingly complex with the conflict between Gian Piero Gasperini and Claudio Ranieri, which has also involved Ricky Massara.

The sporting director, who has never had a good relationship with Gasperini, now finds himself in a delicate position.

If Gasperini gains the trust of the owners and remains on the bench, Massara could be the next to pack his bags.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Gasperini made it clear during discussions with the Friedkins that it would be preferable for him to find a new sporting director. However, some delays in transfer market operations may be attributable to the owners, not just Massara.

There’s a strong empathy and mutual respect between Massara and Ranieri, which suggests that if the veteran advisor were to stay at Roma, Massara could continue in his role.

However, the situation is constantly changing and will depend greatly on the ownership’s decision and the club’s internal dynamics.

If the Friedkins’ choice were to retain Gasperini as coach, transfer rumors about Massara’s possible replacement are already circulating.

Cristiano Giuntoli is the hottest name in the running for the role. Tony D’Amico and Sean Sogliano are the other two candidates who could be on Roma’s radar.
